There’s Rayas, and then there’s everything else. Grown in pure sand on a north-facing slope, fermented and aged with minimal handling, Rayas defies modern Rhône expectations: pale, perfumed, silky and transparent. Closer in spirit to old-school Chambolle than anything in the south of France.

These are wines I rarely see and almost never offer. All three vintages here are in excellent condition, direct from our warehouse in Europe. It’s the sort of thing you drink once and spend the next five years hoping to repeat.

A few thoughts from the critics, then details below.

2014 – 94–96 pts, Jeb Dunnuck (Wine Advocate)
“Tight and reticent, with serious concentration. Notes of kirsch, crushed flowers, and spice. Give it time.”

2013 – 95 pts, Josh Raynolds (Vinous)
“Extremely perfumed, with red berry, incense, and garrigue. Finishes long and gently tannic.”

2011 – 95 pts, Jeb Dunnuck (Wine Advocate)
“Sweet cherry, licorice, rose petal, spice. Medium to full-bodied, expansive, and seamless.”
