A client recently asked me what my go-to white Burgundy is—the one I actually drink at home. This is it. I try to always keep a bottle of Boisson’s Murgey de Limozin in the fridge. It consistently delivers above its price tag, and with the ongoing challenge of finding truly affordable, high-quality white Burgundy, this
one hits the mark every time. Quietly brilliant!
The 2021 Murgey de Limozin from Pierre Boisson is one of the great insider whites of Burgundy. Though it wears the humble Bourgogne Blanc label, this parcel was part of Meursault AOC until the 1950s—and it shows.
From vines just outside the village, on soils rich in limestone and marl, Boisson’s Murgey de Limozin delivers serious terroir character and tension. Fruit from this site is handled with a light touch: native yeast fermentation, no battonage, and élevage in neutral oak, allowing the wine’s architecture and mineral depth to shine through.
About Pierre Boisson:
Pierre Boisson, a vigneron deeply rooted in Meursault’s traditions, has garnered acclaim for his meticulous, low-intervention approach to viticulture and winemaking. Working under the Boisson-Vadot family name alongside his sister Anne, he has quietly elevated the domaine’s reputation, producing wines that offer astonishing purity, clarity, and terroir transparency. Farming is largely organic, and the cellar work is as restrained as possible, giving voice to the sites themselves.
Tasting Note:
Ripe stone fruits, white flowers, chalk, and a whisper of hazelnut. The 2021 is a cooler, more classic vintage, giving the wine an added level of precision and drive. The palate is crystalline and tightly wound, with citrus-laced acidity and a long, saline finish. An exceptional Bourgogne Blanc with Meursault character through and through.
Why it matters:
Pierre Boisson is part of a quiet elite in Meursault, crafting wines that defy classification. Murgey de Limozin regularly ranks among the top Bourgogne Blancs in the region, and the 2021 is no exception. It’s built for cellaring or decanting, and belongs on the table next to wines twice the price.
In short:
Old-vine Meursault energy—in all but name.
Tiny production.
